Programme Description

Somalia finds itself increasingly on the frontline of climate change. More than twenty years of data
from FAO Somalia Water and Land Information Analysis Unit (SWALIM) clearly shows an
emerging pattern of increasing climate volatility with the country experiencing either drought or
flood, or both, in 19 of the last 20 years; with the last 10 years showing a marked rise in the
frequency of such events.
